HOSTING AN ONEG

Thank you in advance for hosting our Havurah Oneg!

The following supplies are located in cabinets in the kitchen adjacent to the Atrium and are available for Oneg use:

Decaf coffee, sugar, sugar substitute, powdered creamer and a coffee maker

Hot and cold cups, wine for Kiddush cup, napkins, utensils, plates & tablecloths

Candlesticks, candles and Kiddush cup, challah tray and knife

Ice is available from the ice machine in the supply room.

An Oneg Chairman with a key to the cabinet will meet you at the Atrium.

Oneg hosts should provide:

Cold drinks (soda, juice, lemonade, punch, iced tea) served in their own containers or pitchers.

Finger food (such as sliced pound cakes, cookies, fruit, vegetable tray, nuts, etc.  Include at              least one sugar free item.)

Challah – There is a standing order for challah at City Center Beverages (located near City Market) in the name of Havurah Shalom and it has already been paid for.  It is the responsibility of one of the oneg co-hosts to pick up the challah on Friday afternoon.  If you need to contact City Center Beverages, their phone number is 240-5401.

Host couples should arrive at the Atrium by 7:00 p.m. to set up as follows:

There are double doors at the front left side of the Atrium which lead to a storage area.  The Ark and folding tables are stored there.   The podium and microphone are against the wall at the right front of the room in an alcove.  If the podium is not there, it will be in the same area as the Ark. The Ark, chairs and prayer books are set up by the service leaders and any other members who arrive early to assist them.  The oneg co-hosts need to:

1. Set up a small table at the front of the room covered with a small tablecloth.  On it              should be placed the candlesticks, candles, matches, Kiddush cup (filled with a small amount              of wine), challah on tray (covered) and knife.

2. Make coffee for about 25 people (20 scoops of coffee).

3. Set up the food and beverage tables. There are two large tablecloths to be used with the buffet tables to be set up on the kitchen side of the room.  One table should hold the hot and cold drinks, cups, coffee supplies and   ice.  The other is to be used for the snacks, fruits, etc.

Clean Up

1. Wipe and fold tablecloths, wash Kiddush cup, challah knife and tray, and replace all of              these, together with all Havurah-provided supplies, back in the supply cabinet.

2. Empty coffee pot and return it to the supply cabinet.

3. Be sure all trash is collected and is properly contained in the trash cans.

4. Close all lights before leaving.

THANKS AGAIN!
